My Role

Simulation designer and full-stack engineer

What I Built

AI-powered airport operations simulation platform designed to model airport activity, aircraft movements, gate utilization, operational disruptions, and resource allocation. Simulates evolving airport conditions and uses AI-driven decision support to explore how operational teams can respond to congestion, delays, and unexpected events.

Evidence

Working interface, documented system behavior, and implementation-level decisions.

Technical Architecture

From system input to explainable output.

The control gate is shown as a first-class stage, not an afterthought added around the workflow.

Five stages connect inputs to processing, security controls, stored state, and user output.SYSTEM FLOW / AIRPORT OPERATIONS SIMULATORTRACEABLE PIPELINE01INPUTSTraffic &runway stateVERIFIED STAGE02PROCESSINGSimulation engineVERIFIED STAGE03SECURITY CONTROLSATC separation rulesCONTROL GATE04STORAGE / STATEAircraft stateVERIFIED STAGE05USER OUTPUTLive JFK operationsVERIFIED STAGEINPUT TO OUTCOME / EVIDENCE PRESERVED

Technical Decisions

  • Built an airport operations simulator that runs a movement bank through a stand allocator, charging taxiway hold time whenever no compatible stand is free.
  • Modelled real stand compatibility constraints: wide-body aircraft need wide stands and international arrivals need stands with inspection facilities.
  • Implemented a greedy earliest-free allocator over the arrival sequence, with occupancy release computed from turn time rather than a fixed slot.

Security Considerations

  • The public case study makes no additional security claim beyond the documented controls shown in the architecture.

Outcome & Evidence

  • Surfaced the reason for every hold, naming the stand and the minute it frees, so the plan is explainable rather than a black-box assignment.
